Great speakers for iPhone
 I have owned several Altec Lansing speaker systems over the year for my iPods…this one is especially designed for the iPhone (may be the only best on the market so far).
The sound is clear, rich, and you can crank up the volume quite loudly before you get interference. The sound fills my entire house beautifully. This is basically plug and play — plug it in, put in your iPhone or iPod, and play away. It charges your iPod/iPhone while playing or while in its dock, even when not playing. It does not sync to your computer. It also does not serve as a speakerphone system – you do need to pick up your iPhone to speak into it. When you put it back it the dock, though, it remembers where you were and resumes playing.
It does what it says it will do — and it is shielded from GSM signal interference, so you do not have to put your iPhone into Airplane Mode, which you must do with any other speaker system on the market currently – that is a plus. The 199.00 is either cheap for this type of system, or too expensive, depending on your view of things. It is probably overpriced by about 50.00, but you really have no other choice if you want a shielded speaker system for your iPhone.

The sound is awesome and it couldn’t be any easier to use. I get decent range from the remote control and strong enough volume and bass to fill a party room. I still haven’t been able to get the video to work, but I admit that I only just read the directions. I’ll play with that feature some more tomorrow. I wasn’t even aware that it had the video feature until I saw the svideo cable. For a unit that’s smaller and 1/3 the price of the big name brands that are audio only, this is well worth the money. RECOMMENDED!

The Original – Survives
 The updated iPod Classic was probably the least exciting of the new iPods announced in the September 2008 update, but that does not mean it should be dismissed.
Overall, the original iPod concept was so good, and that is why the iPod Classic is still a solid choice for a music and media player. It will hold thousands and thousands of songs (up to 30,000 according to Apple at 128 bitrate). I also backup some important files to my iPod Classic, in disk mode, so that I have that additional extra copy of my most vital files. When you have such a large iPod, you can do that. It shouldn’t be forgotten either that while the display of the iPod Classic isn’t as good as the iPod Touch or iPhone, it is still quite good and you can play music videos, TV shows, and movies purchased on the iTunes Store.
Battery life for this new 120 GB model improved over the 80GB model from last year. Apple now estimates it at 36 hours audio and 6 hours video.
I’d recommend the iPod Classic without hesitation, to those who have more than 8 or 16 GBs of music in their iTunes library and want to carry their entire collection. Furthermore, if you have videos and video podcasts you want to always carry with you, again, you can’t beat the storage. I have the lower capacity flash devices as well, but the big hard drive based iPod Classic continues to play an important role in my iPod Collection.
